Pathways to Politics for Women is increasing the number of women in Australian politics by equipping diverse women to boldly embrace their political ambitions, thrive as leaders and make a profound contribution to society.
We have now seen 34 electoral successes nationally across the political spectrum and at all levels of government. A further 50+ program alums are expected to run in local and state elections across the country in 2024!

Tiddas in Business
Since 2021, we've facilitated Business Ready Workshops for Tiddas in Business. A series of culturally appropriate business activities that introduce entrepreneurship, business, and leadership skills for women who would like to go into business and are unsure where to start. The activities are led by Indigenous Businesswomen who provide insights, strategies, tools, and resources for starting and growing a business.

Women & Leadership Australia
We partnered with Women & Leadership Australia to deliver their 2023 First Nations Women’s Leadership Symposium on 3 August 2023. Developed in collaboration with Women's Business this event celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women leading at all levels across our organisations and communities.
Our inspiring keynote speakers included Assoc Prof Sue-Anne Hunter, Michelle Deshong, Carol Vale, Rachelle Towart OAM, Courtney Ugle, Sasha Sarago, Nornie Bero, Elverina Johnson, Carly Jia and Cr Ashleigh Vandenberg with a video message from the Hon. Linda Burney MP.
Aventedge & Pipeline Talent
We spoke at the First Nations Leadership Forum in Cairns 20-22 August 2024 on the topic of Indigenous people in politics. This event celebrates First Nations Leadership across sectors, communities and generations.
UN Women Australia
Former Fiji Minister for Women, Mereseini Rakuita and I spoke at the UN Women Australia International Women's Day Breakfast on the topic of Count her In: Financial Inclusion for women. This event was held in Canberra and telecast across five capital cities.
Women for Election
We co-designed and delivered the first Political Candidate Training workshops for First Nations Women and Women of Colour in the Women in Public Office Program, funded by the Office for Women. The workshops were held in Cairns and Horn Island, Torres Strait in November 2023.

Our Community
Through our subsidiary Politics in Colour, we organised the Women Leading Locally Candid Conversation with Women of Colour Councillors in Victoria. Guest speakers included Cr Anab Mohamud, Cr Sahana Ramesh and Deputy Mayor Nicky Luo.
Our Community
Through our subsidiary Politics in Colour, we attended the launch of the 2nd Cohort of the Women Leading Locally program in Melbourne. 120 women were selected across two cohorts to prepare for local government elections in 2024.
Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women's Voices)
We attended the Wiyi Yani U Thangani Summit 9-11 May 2023. On the second day, we participated in the panel discussion on Building Alliances: What relationships are needed to reach the future we want?
Strong Spirit Aboriginal Services
Strong Spirit Aboriginal Services in partnership with Indigenous Business Australia, will be hosting five face-to-face Indigenous women in business networking events. These events are for women with businesses located across the Hastings Region on Birpai Country. Women's Business will proudly co-facilitate their first event.
Political Candidate Training
In 2023, we ran another Political Candidate Training Workshops for Women of Colour. Sponsored by Pathways to Politics for Women, our workshops teach women 'how to get elected'.
Six women. Six generations.
We spoke at this Generation Women event in 2021. Generation Women celebrates and amplifies women’s voices and creativity. Each month, six women of note read an original piece on a theme. Of those women, one is in her 20s, her 30s, her 40s, her 50s, her 60s, and her 70s+.
NSW Councillors
We spoke to three Women of Colour Councillors about the circumstances that led them into Local Government politics. It was a lively discussion with Clr Nadia Saleh, Clr Charishma Kaliyanda and Clr Sera Yilmaz. Co-Facilitated by Mariam Mourad, CEO of Bankstown Women's Health Centre.
Women of Colour Australia
In 2022, we co-designed and developed the Victorian Government's first-of-its-kind leadership program for Women of Colour who hold or aspire to hold senior executive leadership roles.
Aboriginal Women Making History
In February 2021, we partnered with Natasha Short, CEO of Kimberley Birds to hear from three Aboriginal women candidates running in the WA Election - Divina D'Anna, Milli Hills and Naomi Pigram.
March 4 Justice
Women's Business supported the March 4 Justice organisers to ensure that Indigenous women were represented at some of their marches. Dunghutti woman Marie Barbaric said "I knew the system did not work for women in general and especially Indigenous colour.'
Women of Colour MPs & Senators
We launched Politics in Colour in 2020 with these amazing women politicians. Watch the video of our interview with the then Shadow Minister Linda Burney, Senator Mehreen Faruqi, Kaushaliya Vaghela MP and Jenny Leong MP.
Sydney Symposium
